INSIDE SCIENCE

I am a historian working in contemporary history. I am currently an associated researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS20), University of Coimbra, Portugal. My research develops at the intersection of sport, football, and the media, with a particular interest in how historical knowledge is produced, circulated, and used in public contexts. I approach sport as a cultural language through which social identities, political meanings, and collective memories are constructed.

My work combines archival research, historical writing, and public history. Alongside scholarly publications on the history of football and the sports press in Portugal, I have been involved in projects that connect research with broader audiences, including museum work, heritage initiatives, and advisory roles with sporting, cultural, and media institutions.

I have held doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, Portugal) and have contributed to research groups, editorial projects, and international peer-review processes. Across these different contexts, my work remains grounded in a critical engagement with the social role of history.

OUTSIDE OF SCIENCE

Outside academic work, I value time spent outdoors and in motion. Long-distance trail running (UTMB Index 582 | ITRA Index 597), scuba diving (SSI Deep Diving), and time in natural environments provide necessary counterpoints to writing and research. I also enjoy travelling and discovering places shaped by history and sport.
